What is Perplexity?

Perplexity is an "Answer Engine". You don't search keywords. You ask questions. It reads the top 10 search results, synthesizes the answer, and cites its sources.

It is like having a smart research assistant doing the Googling for you.

The Good (Why I use it)

• Conversational Research: Experts at Collabnix highlight how Perplexity synthesizes information from various sources into a single coherent answer, saving hours of manual tab-switching.
• Model Switching: A standout Pro feature is the ability to toggle between GPT-4o, Claude 3.5 (Sonnet/Opus), Gemini Pro, and Perplexity's own Sonar models. This gives founders multiple perspectives for different tasks.
• File Uploads & Spaces: Pro users can upload unlimited PDFs and spreadsheets for deep analysis. The "Spaces" feature acts as a project-based knowledge hub.
• Built-in Citations: Unlike standard LLMs that might hallucinate, Perplexity provides clickable citations for every claim, allowing for instant verification.

The Bad (What sucks)

• Deep Reasoning Limits: Some reviewers note that while it's unbeatable for factual retrieval, it can occasionally struggle with highly niche academic topics or complex logic compared to raw LLM interfaces.
• Ad Discovery: While the Pro version is currently ad-free, the platform is beginning to experiment with sponsored content in the free tier, which experts are watching closely.
